Sydney's Trusted Remedial and New Waterproofing Contractors

Licensed, insured waterproofing contractors servicing all Sydney suburbs. Free site inspection, AS 3740 compliant, certificate provided on every job.

Licensed and Fully Insured Sydney Waterproofing Contractors

Econyc holds all NSW waterproofing contractor licences required under the Home Building Act and complies with the Design and Building Practitioners Act 2020. We carry full public liability insurance (minimum $20 million cover) and professional indemnity insurance, giving homeowners, builders, and strata managers complete protection on every job.

Licensing matters. In NSW, waterproofing must be carried out by a licensed waterproofing contractor. Unlicensed work does not attract legal protections under the Home Building Act, cannot be covered by home warranty insurance, and cannot produce a valid AS 3740 compliance certificate. Econyc’s licences are current, held by the individuals on site, and verifiable through NSW Fair Trading.

Beyond licences, we carry comprehensive insurance, provide all work in writing with a fixed-price quote before commencement, and back every job with a formal waterproofing compliance certificate and workmanship warranty. These are not optional extras. They are standard practice on every Econyc job across Sydney.

What We Waterproof in Sydney

Econyc provides waterproofing contractor services across the full range of residential, strata, and commercial applications in Sydney. Our services include bathroom shower bases and walls for new and remedial applications, balconies and external decks compliant with AS 4654.2, basement and sub-floor areas including tanking, crystalline systems, and injection grouting, flat roofs and roof decks using liquid-applied and sheet membrane systems, planter boxes and podium decks on strata and commercial buildings, retaining walls using injection grouting and negative-side membrane systems, and commercial and industrial structures including carparks, lift pits, and civil infrastructure.

We do not specialise in one type of waterproofing. Our licensed technicians are trained across the full spectrum of wet area, below-grade, and external waterproofing applications, which means we diagnose correctly and specify the right product for the job. We do not apply a single method to every problem.

What to Expect: Our Process

Every Econyc waterproofing job in Sydney follows the same structured process regardless of scope or property type.

  1. Free site inspection: our licensed technician visits the property, assesses the area, identifies issues, and diagnoses the root cause. We do not quote without seeing the site. Remote quotes based on descriptions or photos are not reliable for waterproofing work.
  2. Fixed-price quote: we provide a written scope of work, product specification, programme, and price. The price does not change unless the scope changes. We do not add variation charges for work that should have been included in the original quote.
  3. Licensed installation: waterproofing is applied by our own licensed contractors. We do not subcontract waterproofing work to unlicensed operators. Every person applying waterproofing on an Econyc job is licensed to do so.
  4. Flood test: we flood-test all wet areas to AS 3740 before handover. The results are recorded. We do not skip this step.
  5. Compliance certificate: issued with every completed job. AS 3740 for internal wet areas or AS 4654.2 for balconies and external areas. The certificate documents our licence number, the scope of work, the products used, and the flood test results.

Products We Use: Normet, Sika and Tremco

As one of Sydney’s specialist waterproofing contractors, Econyc works exclusively with top-tier products from Normet, Sika, and Tremco. These manufacturers are specified by engineers, architects, and consultants on major Sydney projects, and their products carry full Australian technical data sheets and independent test results.

We use Sika’s waterproofing range including SikaTite-N, SikaTop 122 Plus, SikaProof A, and Sikaflex Pro-3 depending on the application. For sealants, membranes, and below-grade systems we use Tremco TREMproof 60, Tremco Paraseal, and Tremco Dymonic. For injection work, including crack sealing and substrate injection without tile removal, we use Normet TamPur 116 and Normet TamPur 220.

Product selection is dictated by the substrate condition, the waterproofing challenge, and the AS standard applicable to the work. We specify in writing what product is being applied on every job. You will always know exactly what has been installed on your property.

Warranty on Waterproofing Contractor Work in Sydney

Econyc provides workmanship warranties on all waterproofing work carried out by our Sydney teams. Bathroom and shower waterproofing carries a 5-year workmanship warranty. Balcony and external wet area waterproofing carries a 10-year workmanship warranty. Basement and below-grade waterproofing systems carry a 7-year workmanship warranty.

All warranties are provided in writing at job completion, documented alongside the compliance certificate. They are backed by our public liability insurance and are transferable on property sale. The warranty covers defects arising from our application of the waterproofing system. It does not cover damage caused by structural movement subsequent to our work, modifications to the waterproofed area by others, or conditions outside the scope of the original waterproofing.

Frequently Asked Questions: Waterproofing Contractors Sydney

How do I know if a waterproofing contractor is licensed in NSW?
NSW waterproofing contractor licences are publicly searchable on the NSW Fair Trading licence check website. Search by the contractor’s name or licence number. The licence should be current and should list waterproofing as a licence category. Do not accept verbal assurances of licensing. Econyc’s licence details are included on every quote and certificate we issue.

What is the difference between a waterproofing contractor and a tiler?
A tiler is licensed to apply tiles and tile adhesive. A waterproofing contractor is separately licensed to apply waterproofing membranes and certify that work complies with AS 3740. These are distinct licences. Many waterproofing failures in Sydney occur because tilers applied the waterproofing without holding a waterproofing licence, meaning the work was illegal and uncertifiable.

Do you offer free quotes?
We offer free on-site inspections and quotes for all waterproofing work in Sydney. We do not provide remote quotes without a site inspection because accurate waterproofing quotation requires seeing the substrate condition, access constraints, and scope of work in person.

How quickly can you start?
For residential jobs we typically schedule inspections within 3 to 5 business days of enquiry and can commence work within 1 to 2 weeks of accepting the quote. For urgent situations such as active leaks causing property damage, contact us directly to discuss prioritised scheduling.

Can you waterproof a bathroom in an occupied house?
Yes. The majority of our Sydney bathroom waterproofing work is carried out in occupied homes. The bathroom being waterproofed will be unavailable during the work, and the flood test (24-hour water soak) means the bathroom cannot be used for that period. We work with homeowners to schedule around these requirements.
